Seed map generators allow you to enter the seed of a minecraft world (ours is: 1333366610) and generate what the map should look like. The main problem with using one on our world is that map generation has changed significantly with game updates, and especially when new biomes are added!
So our world began in late 2020 which was after the 1.16 update (Nether update). The first areas explored were what we now call Aridnea, Barren Lake, Everburn, Aquamarine, Yestergust Sea, Hermit Bay. This means all of those areas were generated under 1.16 conditions. So if you are looking around there, you need to set the seed map generator to 'Bedrock 1:16' to have an accurate map
You can see in the map (zoomed in with the paramaters above) It appears to be totally accurate to our world, and the maps we've made in it.
Aridnea = Compass with red circle, Aquamarine = Cyan icon with cyan circle, Everburn = Zombie head ison with orange circle.
There are minor differences, like south of the glacier near Aridnea is a closed bay, whereas in our world it is an open waterway that leads out to Port Ragga.
The next update 1.17 (Caves & Cliffs part I) changed the world landscape quite a bit, I remember maps I had made needed to be redone as coastlines were altered by the update (2021). But the way worlds are generated were pretty similar.
Most of the change happened underground or to mountains, as 1.17 added lush caves, dripstone caves, deepslate, copper, amethyst, and tonnes of other stuff
Then 1.18 update (Caves & Cliff part II) came later 2021, which completely changed how the world generates. This is the same area between Aridnea and Everburn when looking at 1.18:
Aridnea being the compass (world spawn)
So towns and areas explored after this would need to be viewed with 'bedrock 1.18 setting' to be most accurate. Places like Fort Pryvoca and north of it, Port Ragga and surrounds.
So looking east of spawn, a lot of that is only accurate after 1.18:
Aridnea = Compass + red circle, Port Ragga = Zombie head + yellow circle, The woodland mansion circled in orange, and Sakura Valley & the Meadows circled in pink. This is before 1.20 when Cherry trees were added though!
here is the same section of map in 1.20:
Now the cherry grove surrounding Sakura is visible, much easier to find it on the map. But again, spawn area looks totally different
1.20 (Trails and Tales) came out mid 2023. The way the world generates has been the same since 1.18, but more biomes (cherry groves) and underground stuff has been added. Then the latest update (1.21 Tricky Trials) added those trial chamber dungeons, which I think are underground?
So basically, if you are looking around spawn to everburn, or trying to find spawn relative to somewhere else, Use the bedrock 1.16 setting. Otherwise elsewhere should be 1.20 or beyond (the bright pink cherry groves really help with reading the map)
And if travelling to new, unexplored, and unmapped areas, use the latest game version
