DRAGON DEAD

Statue commemorating the defeat of the Ender Dragon, located in Aridnea's Town Square

Zombies and Endermen... we got him. The Realm's finest were brought together on a quest to compromise, to a permanent end, the dragon which had cast a shadow upon our lands. The members of this team had representation from across all of the Realm's regions and factions, their identities witheld for security reasons.

"They're going to call us the Ender Men, the way we brought an end to those men" reported one of these champions, who went only by the moniker 'Phantom Menace'. "We engaged in calculated wet-work" they further stated, in reference to the skilled use of water buckets as a means to counter the Ender Men that inhabit the dimension of the Dragon, with powers beyond us. "This creativity brought a flood against the seemingly more powerful enemy, showing that we were prepared and steadfast" they concluded.

They're going to call us the Ender Men, the way we brought an end to those men

These champions returned home to a hero's welcome, with a new statue erected in honor of their grand feat. The statue is located just outside the entrance to the Adventure Guild Hall in Aridnea, and pictured atop this page, Work will now begin on further exploring the dimension of the Dragon to determine what else can be learned or attained. One thing now made certain is that the Realm won't be threatened by this entity again.

Everburn's Everboom

Returning to form, Everburn is currently experiencing a construction and economic boom. With the recent establishment of the districts of North and South Everburn, the North has expanded out of the confines of the original fortified town becoming it's own unique area. Several new intricate homes and businesses are cementing a vibrant new architectural style, while being host to activity.

In addition to the improvements on the town itself, the nearby Ridgardia region has also been flourishing. The villages of Lushport and Madelta have been formally incorporated and connected to the region's highway system, as well as had the Grand Overworld Railway extended out through them. During construction of these, an enormous mineshaft was uncovered underneath Lushport that provided material and incentive for hasty construction. The Railway is planned to continue it's extension northwards until it finally reaches Fort Pryvoca.

A sand quarry has been sequestered between Everburn and Lushport, with a red sand/terracotta quarry location soon to be identified near Madelta. Rumors are abound that automation will be coming to Everburn's farmland, and that pale oak biome has been discovered in the northwest, much closer than previously thought.

These changes to Everburn, and it's surrounding dependencies, provide the rest of the Realm direct access to a large bounty of resources that will surely shape the culture of the area.

Aridnic Games Delayed

Reluctantly the decision had been made to delay the planned Aridnic Games. Beyond the threat of the Ender Dragon, which has now been abated, a number of factors have contributed to this decision.

Construction of event spaces, courses, and tracks has been slow and interrupted by other issues. Plans have changed, with a desire to make some courses much grander in scale and spread out across multiple regions of the Realm.

On an unfortunately more meta point there have also been fundamental, and frankly rather arbitrary, changes to the nature of physics on servers. In particular; any rideables/mounts have been altered so that their movement is server-side. This initially created untenable lag when using them, which has slightly settled since, but is still very noticable. According to the devs, this is the game 'running as intended'. It will take some time to adjust to how horses and boats in particular, now control (compensating for the major movement changes)

'Tis a regretable situation, but one that can be overcome with time. The games will slowly take place across this year, with the results available in the latter half.

Sakura's Volley of improvements

The littoral landscape along the southwest of Sakura Valley has been expanded upon with several new builds. The new docks now also host a turtle sanctuary as well has a stunning lighthouse. This area sits under the view of the College, with panoramic views abound.

Work is under way to plot and mark a river canal route from this new dock, down through Mansion Lake to the Mines of Corruption. A second phase is to continue from the Mines out to the south sea, granting access to Port Ragga and the established sea/canal routes back to Aridnea.

It has never been a more exciting time to travel this Realm

From The Outside, Looking In!

Realmwide Aridnic Games announced

Five glorious years of this Realm's existence are being celebrated with an enormous new event; The Aridnic Games. This will consist of a variety of competitive sports & activities which will be hosted at various settlements & locations across the Realm! The Games will occur after this year's Harvest Festival, running from October through to December

"The Realm's citizens will have a chance to represent their respective regions of the world". The current region candidates are; Greater Aridnea, Everburn Region (encompassing Fort Pryvoca & Savannah Hill), Sakura Valley Region (encompassing The Meadows & Deepslate Peak), and the newly formalised South Coast Alliance (comprised of Port Ragga & Luvana).

Planning and construction is still under way, but at present the proposed 'sports' that will be contested are as follows; Ice Boat Racing, Spleef, Camel Racing, Water Racing, Archery & Javelin, Cross Country Horse Racing, Parkour, and Ice Wrestling. Most of these sports already have facilities available for them and will be expanded on in their own page on this site.

The Realm's citizens will have a chance to represent their respective regions of the world...

This will also be bringing the inaugural season of the Aridnea City Spleef League to a close, in order to accomodate the Games. This season has so far seen a total washout with Southwatch dominating Citadel.

Harvest time has come... for the Ender Dragon

Celebrating one year on our self-hosted server, Harvest Festival is coming around again this September.

To herald this new era, the third age, an expedition to the End is being planned. We of this world will conquer the Ender Dragon for the benefit of all! The End has already been located due north across the Yestergust Sea from Aridnea City.

Along with the End expedition will be the usual Harvest festival fare; town decoration, markets, and an abundance of food and fireworks. Days typically run longer, but this may be impeded by End forces until their defeat.

The most joyful time of year for the Realm will not be challenged!

War never changes...

Luvana has emerged victorious in a recent skirmish following a land challenge by the nearby village of Avanul.

Avanul had constructed a log fort on land between the two settlements in an attempt to claim right up to the outskirts of Luvana itself. A designated war zone was sequestered with Avanul employing numerous improvised explosive devices, thorn bush trenches, sand fall pits and other trappings. One of these, a tripwire-to-dispenser style trap malfunctioned and lit the wooden fort ablaze. In the battle Aurora Lavana fell to an explosive death.

Following the initial chaos, Avanul forces fled back to their village while burning an abundance of grass and foliage placed for this very occurance. Within the village itself the last of the Avanuls was felled, bringing an end to the war and to Avanul itself. All loot and land of the area has been placed under Luvanan control. There may still be explosive traps in the region, work is under way to dismantle them.

This was a part of the testing of a 'war system' within the Realm, the findings of which are inconclusive but with enough promise that a fair system could be created in the future. We were compelled to bring it to a close for the sake of peace during the Aridnic Games.

Peace will rain

Following the recent agression pointed at Luvana, Port Ragga has extended the option of an alliance to secure the lands across the southern coast where they reside.

The newly created South Coast Alliance has been formalized between the two city-states, encompassing all land between and around them. This new grouping secures peace in this region, south of Aridnea. The construction of a highway connecting the two is already near completion, with a railway to follow shortly (a 'south coast line'). Other commemorative 'friendship' builds are soon to come.

The new region will come into it's own as a participant in the upcoming Aridnic Games! The South Coast Alliance (SCA) is a confederated and mostly anarchic land without law at this time...

Spleef comes to Aridnea! new local league founded

The Arena of Aridnea City has recieved alterations to accomodate hosting of spleef games. Spleef is a sport where competing players harvest blocks underneath each other until one of them hits the ground floor, losing the match.

The brand new 'Aridnea City Spleef League' has been incorporated as the Realm's first Spleef competition. The League currently consists of two teams; Citadel (red) and Southwatch (black).

"This new league will help familiarize the Realm with spleef, and hopefully grow to worldwide league or competition, in the future" said the ACSL founder. Spleef requires two players, who can pick whichever team they want to represent, match results can be added to signage at the entrance to the Arena itself.

The inaugrual game between Realm Founders ended with a victory for Southwatch!

This new league will help familiarize the Realm with spleef...

The internal areas of the Arena have also been renovated to include locker rooms and colour coded team uniforms, with a generous supply of shears and leaves available at the Arena seating level for use in the game.

Pallid Peaks Probed

In a recent expedition to the westernmost lands of the Yestergust Sea, explorers from Aridnea conducted a comprehensive canvass of the colossal Pallid Peak mountains.

Several enormous interconnected underground caverns were discovered with abundant open resources nodes, along with one barely explored mineshaft.

The mountains themselves are difficult to traverse, with steep inclines and many dangerous patches of powder snow, broken up only by densely forested valleys, perilous at night.

A small base was constructed inside the tallest mountain's cavern, there is however a cliffhanging village on the very northeastern section of the mountains, bordering the Ridgardian Desert/Savannah (towards Everburn).

Eastern expedition reveals pale garden

Explorers from Aridnea and Sakura Valley united recently in efforts to find a 'Pale Garden' biome. This ambitious trek began at Sakura, heading east across to the next continent.

Following some equine and supply losses, the East Continent was reached and the search for the biome continued. Luckily it appeared rather close to the landing coast, however with this came the next perilous chapter

These bold explorers became the first in the realm to face the new threat to our world, Creakers. A beast which only appears at night, visually arborial and chameleonic with the surrounding flora, it remains stationary when gazed upon. Yet, when one looks away, these beasts move at frightening speed to attack your stern. The Creakers are also seemingly invulnerable on first encounter, that is until their weakness is identified.

Nearby pale oak trees hold the 'heart' of these Creakers, which is the point that must be attacked to fell the beast. Fortunately the explorers realized this and were able to slay several of the creatures, as well as engage in moderate rare resource harvesting!

Following this extended encounter, the expedition commenced it's journey home, but along the way rediscovered the location of Sakura's unnamed East Continent village. A densely forested taiga village bordered by cliff and thornbush, accessible only by bridge. Eventually the expedition returned to Sakura and the known realm, successfully acquiring the materials of the Pale Gardens biome.

Lunar Festival Celebrated

June Solstice has come and gone with the first ever Lunar festival hosted in Aridnea City, this being the first winter solstice since the festivals were layed out late last year.

Lunar festival's primary decoration site was centred on Aridnea City's Old Town Square. A new lunar themed banner was crafted for the event, with the recently aqcuired pale garden biome resources providing an interesting array of flora. In particular the new eyeblossom flowers blooming orange overnight was a sight to behold.

The two week festival came to a conclusion at the beginning of July

New College built in the Meadows

Enchanters the world over may rest easy with this tremendous new 'college' build in The Meadows. The College houses numerous librarian villagers with a wide variety of some of the most sought after enchanted books available for trade, including Mending! A new essential destination to visit for all of those across the realm.

The Meadows can be reached via the Grand Overworld Railway, Nether Express Railway (via Sakura Valley), or on the Sakura Valley Highway. The College itself is located east of the town, along the highway to Sakura Valley

Gaia Festival Celebrated

Devotees from across the Realm are coming together in reverence of the great life giver. This March Equinox is the season of Gaia, pay your respects at the Gaia Tree and perhaps take a visit to Aridnea City, the genesis of the Realm.

Aridnea City Town Square will become overgrown and enveloped in Jungle trees to celebrate the majesty of Gaia, with some goodies available for those who visit!

"I will keep the world alive, even if nobody is present" said the architect of Aridnea and server master, in answer to a recent lack of players around. "We are playing other games, there is no obligation to only stick to the Realm!" he further commented.

The festivals have been guaranteed to continue indefinitely, as long as the server exists!

I will keep the world alive, even if nobody is present.

Also, difficulty within the Realm will drop to 'easy' for the duration, a gift from Gaia.

Brand new adventure guild hall, and workshop overhaul, unveiled in Aridnea

The Enourmous new domed building now towers between map room lane, boundary st & portcottage way, refocusing the Town Square this direction also. The Grand Adventure Guild Hall now consolidates the old 'Adventurer's Guild Hall' in the citadel tower, the 'Grand Map Room of the Realm' and the new 'Grand Library of the Realm' in one location, also acting as a community hub with the new town notice board.

This new guild hall alters the landscape and layout of Aridnea City significantly, and other changes may take place to accomodate this, including a rework of the street tram line. Visit when you get a chance!

As for the Workshop, it has now been designated the world headquarters of the Crafting, Building & Smithing divisions of the Mining Guild. The public Aridnean Storage Repository has been moved into the building to further consolidate these activites, and hopefully eliminate any remaining lag directly at spawn. Also the automatic mud crafting machine has been completed, along with a complementary mud to clay drying rack! And finally, a new statue of an iron pickaxe, as depicted in dokucraft light, has been erected to commemorate these improvements.

The Workshop/Mining Guild is serviced by the existing railway station in the Ravine Mine, on the Aridnean Local Line (cargo friendly), or via a quick walk down Manufactory Way.

Southwatch district now growing

The Community of the Southwatch district of Aridnea City is growing, as villagers have been brought to populate new dwellings recently built. Their trades will be primarily focused on smithing, and over time with experience and levelling, will become a hub for essential equipment in the realm!

Mines of Corruption Discovered

In the process building an overworld rail line in Port Ragga region, this new cavern system has been discovered. It has been barely explored and already appears to be the largest cavern system ever found in world! There is a lava sea that would fit right in, in the nether, as well as hundreds of open nodes of iron, gold and diamond. The name Corruption comes from the surrounding lands being heavily corrupted from a world generation viewpoint, lots of chunks full of water suddenly next to chunks without.

Development has begun in the region, with a mining base camp, Sam's Sushi Saloon (placeholder name) and a series of canals to connect nearby rivers. The Mines are serviced by an overworld rail line from Port Ragga, and it's own nether portal!

New Guilds Consolidated

An Updated set of guilds have been created/consolidated to develop their respective specialties throughout the realm, and direct players to relevant locations & activities.

The respective guild banners will be placed throughout the world at relevant locations, providing a striking visual guide on where to access certain facilities

The Guilds are as follows: Adventure Guild, Mining Guild, and Merchant Guild. Each guild has it's own banner, unique from the style of most settlement flags with it's use of this cross ✠ (which is dokucraft light's version of 'the thing', mojang's old logo which is a banner pattern). "The respective guild banners will be placed throughout the world at relevant locations, providing a striking visual guide on where to access certain facilities" reported the Guildmaster

Visit the Guilds hub page for more information on each guild's scope, and links to their dedicated pages on this site

War Rumblings in the Realm

A roleplay opportunity

A new village has appeared south of Luvana, and has issued a challenge to their land claims. Preparations for war, the building of fortifications and dermarkation of the battleground, are taking place. BEWARE when travelling south of Luvana, as there may be lethal traps.

"In essence, we are attempting to create and trial a warfare system between willing towns in the Realm" revealed the Anavul General, the challenger to Luvana
