Troubleshooting
*NOTE* Just a reminder that you all have multiple ways to instantly contact me (Xbox chat/DM, Discord, other social media, SMS etc.) so please don't hesitate to do so if you ever have an issue in server, or can't access it, at any time. All messages go to my phone, so I should respond quickly.
.:CONNECTION ISSUES:.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Problem: "Failed to Connect: Outdated Version!"
Effecting- Anyone
Cause- The server has updated to a new version of minecraft, but you are still running an older version.
Solution- Update your game. This can be done manually by navigating to the updates section of your console (or app store the game was bought & installed from) and choosing "Check for updates".
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Problem: Not able to connect to the server, or access the server select screen.
Effecting- Console players
Cause- Most likely an issue with 'BedrockConnect', the workaround that allows console players to join private servers.
Solution- Usually double checking you entered the correct DNS addresses, or trying other ones they list. Best to visit their troubleshooting page: BedrockConnect Troubleshooting as it should also list any outages they experience.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Problem: "You're not invited to play on this server."
Effecting- New players
Cause- You username is not on the server's whitelist
Solution- Contact me with your correct username, including any capital letters, spaces, and numbers on the end. Probably best to just take a photo/screenshot of minecraft menu which will show the username I have to enter.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Problem: Connection struggles, dropping in and out.
Effecting- Portable device users (Switch, Mobile, Tablet etc.)
Cause- Probably Wi-fi issues, especially for Switch.
Solution- Move closer to your Wi-fi router, try a different connection (most routers have 2.4Ghz and 5Ghz networks available), maybe try mobile phone hotspot, or just using cellular data if available?

.:TEXTURE ISSUES:.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Problem: Missing (reverted to vanilla) or broken (purple/black squares) textures.
Effecting- Anyone
Cause- Something's wrong with the texture pack.
Solution- Clear the current texture pack from your 'cached data'. Settings>General>Storage>Cached Data>Dokucraft>Delete. This will force a clean redownload on joining server. If the texture issue persists then it's a problem with the pack, you need to contact me, then I need to put in a bug report with them.
.:LAG ISSUES:.
These can be very complicated and different types of lag (server side vs. client side) can bleed into each other making it hard to identify. I will just detail the most common causes, and how you can alleviate them. Still best to contact me, and let me know details though. For a VERY detailed lag busting guide, check out this amazing forum post from the 'Empire Minecraft' servers: 'A guide to lag busting'.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Bad Internet
If lag is ONLY effecting you in world, the issue is most likely your internet connection, especially if you are experiencing 'rubber banding' or being disconnected frequently. Many things can contribute to this, please check for the following; Your internet provider should have an 'outage' page that will also list degraded signals (also check NBN's outage page if in Aus), It could simply be peak usage hours in your area (evening time) that is slowing your connection, You or someone in your home may be downloading/uploading something (including system updates that you did not choose to do, especially on Windows), Your internet plan might have too low bandwidth (I have struggled on 25mbps plans before), Wi-Fi connection issues (get closer to router or swap between 2.4Ghz and 5Ghz connecitons), or other hardware/software issues unique to you =(
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Block Lag
If you experience lag in a small area in world every time you visit it, this is most likely due to too many 'entities', complex blocks, redstone components, or light level changes. All of these require a larger computational demand on both your game/device, and the server itself. The solution is to limit/remove these blocks, or spread them out across more horizontal space. When minecraft renders a 'chunk' (16x16 blocks) it does so from the top of the sky (+320 blocks up) down to bedrock (-64 blocks down), and it is typically set to render objects in a 4 chunk radius around you at all times. So if you concentrate your building vertically, it is almost guaranteed that you will encounter block lag eventually.
'Entities' include all mobs, animals, villagers, boats and minecarts, but also a large variety of seemingly normal blocks that have to send data back and forth between the server and you. This includes all positions, rotations, velocities, volumes, status effects/changes. So even things like floating sand or gravel blocks before they collapse are considered entities, constantly sending their location and status back and forth.
'Complex Blocks' are those that have animated textures, particle effects, or a larger number of textures to render. A good exmaple is the cauldron, where a block of cobblestone has six textures to render (one for every side), a cauldron has 32; one for every surface on the inner side and outer side, each surface of the rim and underneath, and each side of the four legs. It also holds data in the form of the different volumes of water it can contain, as well as any dyes added to that water. All of that information is sent back and forth between you and the server, for each cauldron that is rendered by each player.
'Redstone Components' are even more complex in world circuitry that you can build with. Many redstone components, like hoppers, are constantly sending signals out to determine if they need to perform an action. But most redstone builds also contrubute to lighting changes.
'Light Level Changes' apparently another large strain on the game client, and servers, are things which frequently change light levels. Most redstone machine have redstone lights flashing on and off, changing the light levels in their area over and over again, requiring these to be re rendered over and over.
Render Lag
This presents as visual stuttering or areas not being loaded in properly when traveling quickly or especially when using portals. This effect lower powered devices more frequently (switch, phone, tablet) but is not uncommon when using portals on any device, as you suddenly have to load in a whole new area of the map. You can improve performance by lowering your 'render distance', but there is not much that can alleviate this, as minecraft bedrock is VERY cpu intensive.
